Points to Emphasize
- The dark side of the universe—1 John 5:19
Originally, the universe was beautiful, and life was lovely. Now, however, the universe has so much darkness, misfortune, misery, and death. [You may give some general examples like disasters, diseases, gambling, dark societies, corruption, etc.]
- The source of darkness—Satan—Gen. 3:1a; Rev. 12:9
From where did all this darkness come? Did it come from God? From men? It came neither from God nor from men but from the devil, Satan.
- The origin of Satan—Job 38:4-7; Isa. 14:12; Ezek. 28:13-15a
Describe Satan’s position in the universe before his rebellion and corruption.
- The rebellion of Satan—Ezek. 28:15b-17a; Isa. 14:13-14
God created a good and perfect archangel. But at a certain time, this archangel, the anointed cherub, rebelled against God.
Genesis 2 says that after man was created, God asked man to guard the garden. The reason the garden needed to be guarded was that someone was coming. In Genesis 3 that one came—the subtle one, the evil one.
[Note: The emphasis of this lesson is not to scare the children but to expose (make something visible by uncovering it) the evil one of the universe]
