Points to Emphasize
- We are all sinners—Rom. 3:10-12, 23; 1 John 5:17a
Use some sins that can touch their feelings like:
Lying—There are many, many kinds of lies: lying openly and secretly, deceiving with looks and deceiving with words, lying with words and with actions, lying with evil intention and with good intention, white lies and black lies, big lies and small lies.
Stealing—There are also many ways of stealing [You can use the example of borrowing a pencil or pen and never return it. That is stealing].
Covetousness—Someone talks about something good, and immediately you begin to think how nice it would be to have that yourself.
Envy
- Because there are the sins, there is guilt—1 John 1:8
As soon as we have sinned, there is the problem of guiltiness. Being guilty is not used merely to imply one’s act of transgression. It is like a verdict in court that pronounces one either guilty or not guilty.
Sins make us condemned persons before God.
